I am seriously considering buying a hunter 26 or hunter 260 but am completely confused about the difference between the 2 models except one is newer and more expensive. I would appreciate any feedback about the differences. I plan to do mostly lake sailing but would hope to get to the coast 3 or 4 times a year and take short offshore sails. Again thanks. By the way, I'm always in the market for a good deal if you want to move up to a bigger boat and are located in a 400-500 mile radius of macon ga.

Calvin - I'll start by saying the 26/260 is a really nice boat. Comfortable, roomy and better performance than I expected. As far as the differences go, you best be will be search the archives, as this subject has been repeated a number of times. Hopefully you'll be a HOW member sometime soon.

Differences 26/260

The 260 has: Sugar scoop transome with integrated, telescoping swim ladder Optional wheel steering available Opening port above aft berth smaller aft berth (due to transome modifications) Extra Cabinet in galley, above sink/cooler Permanent struts that support mast while raising Optional Bow roller 1 burner Butane stove instead of 2 burner alcohol 6 inches longer on water line 260 DOESN"T have the cockpit table that stores under V-berth that was provided with the 26. The rudder setup is different on the boats.

Most important differece

Never mind all of the other differences. The H26 has a cool red and blue squiggle. The 260 has that tasteless brown wiggle. Mark PS 26 will probably cost you $5K less.
