What a price for VC17 extra

Last year I was at the Dania Beach marine flea market and ran into a booth selling VC. I got the guy to sell me 24 cans at $10 each ( list is around $50) he had a ton of it, but I traveled with a guy in his sports car, so space was very limited. I went back this past March and the guy still had 10 cases (60 cans) Again, he took my offer of $10 a can and this time I drove a car that could handle that many. No one in FL uses that paint, but we do up north.

Last year, after getting the paint back north, I started wondering if the paint was hot and felt bad. This year I noticed the guy had all kinds of paint for sale and, since it had been a year and no one busted him, I figured he bought out a warehouse or business that went bankrupt so I bought all he had. I have sold it to my friends for $25 a can. Not a bad profit for me even though my friends are making more on each can than I am.

Not sure what the point is but just curious - do you know how old the paint is?

No point - just a fortunate find for me and I felt like talking about it. the shelf life is pretty much indefinate as VC's main component is a copper powder that is added to a fast evaporating accetone like carrier at time of application.

I think the implication is that someone else ripped off a store, warehouse, etc...

A number of years, ago when WM bought and then closed all the Boater' World stores, they had a sale in which lots of old parts and materials were sold dirt cheap. Subsequently, WM also closed many of their own stores doing the same thing. This sounds like somebody is selling off very old product which does go bad as does anything which uses a volatile carrier fluid.
Long story short - have you actually tried any of this stuff?

Of course I have used it and it is just fine. I will repeat my initial statement. I am making less per can than my friends are. I made the 5 hour round trip, paid the admission fee and brought it home from FL.

One of the guys who bought some of the paint owns a flooring store. I rehabbed my house and bought all my flooring from him. He did not sell it to me at cost and I did not expect him to do so. Was he a jerk?
