Went sailing on the Neuse River today. Introduced a friend to sailing. Fresh breeze all day, mid 70's. WOW. Nothing special happened, just a great day of sailing here at the end of the season.
Up here in RI, the temps were mid-70's, light SW wind 10-15, sun shining and just a great day to be out. I was at the marina and on the boat but, - WOW, I was shrink wrapping.
Paul - you are absolutely right - what a great day. My friend and I have been waiting for another chance for a sail and ..... we got it today. Left the house at noon and by 1:00 were under sail in Buzzards Bay. A beautiful sunny afternoon and winds between 15 and 18 knots most of the afternoon. Seas were a little bumpy but nothing unusual for Buzzards. Hove to in the middle of the bay for a snack and to toast the beautiful day - than a wonderful sail home as the wind died - back to the mooring in the dark at 8:30 and home by 9:30pm.I'm hoping its not the last sail of the season. In a couple of weeks I'll be kicking myself as I freezewhile hauling the boat - but for one more sail .......6 months to wait for the next sail - Oh Nooooo
We went out for an afternoon sail on the gulf. We had the 180 up and sailed at hull speed on a reach about 12 miles out and back in with a 25 degree heel, temp. around 85 and not a cloud in the sky. A great day. After all the hurricanes and hot weather our sailing season has arrived.
