Whale water system quick connect fittings

My boat has Whale quick connect fittings for the fresh potable water system. They are neat and color coordinated and I would like to know if you can disconnect them and if so how? I want to add a couple of T-fittings so that I can winterize my water system.

Wish they had a tool

that would slide around the tubing and push on the dis-connect ring. Sometimes it is hard to get your fingers in there.

Keep at it - it works. I thought mine was broken for two years. I bought some fitting and hose from Defender and practiced. Then I was able to push hard enought on the fitting I wanted off.
