I'm just not completely convinced on this one yet. Not saying its a hoax, but lets just say I'm not 100% convinced yet. If it is a hoax, BP will try and hire them!

We were sailing up the coast of California 2 years ago this coming Sept. As we were approaching Moro Bay we must have seen 30-40 breeches within 2-3 hours. A few of them were so close to our Hunter 376 that we could smell their bad breath.

I can just imagine one of those humpbacks landing on the deck. Oh shit would that hurt!

PS: Maine Sail: this Shit is for real! <g>

my vote is that this is a photoshopped picture ... blow it up and look at some of the intersections ... here's a blow-up .. you can see pixelation at the whale's snout, around the ship ensign and also aroung the ship name .... also, looks like they missed a white spot where there should have been a shadow at the bottom of "The Saint's" logo ...

save the picture ... open it in Microsoft Paint and view in "Large Size" ... you can see the square boxes of the altered pixels ...

UPDATE 7/23/10 ... OK ...I think I'll eat my words .... I saw actual video of the incident this morning .. I guess those "vestiges" that I saw in the blow-up are the result of camera and foto quality ....

The two people on the boat were interviewed on the Today Show this AM. Seemed legit to me. Said they were under sail when the whale broached about 300 yards away and then again closer but parallel to their course. The 3rd broach was from a different direction and righ on top of them. Said the whale lost some barnacles and a little skin but no blood.

if i were to guess the whale is very selfish...he droped in for a short visit ...didnt stay long at all ......left in a hurry.....and the host and hostes will never even get a thank you note nor a phone call thanking them for the hospatality......some whales ....honestly!!!! lol lol lol

maybe they were eating krill and the whale could smell it? I tried the youtube site it works great. Check out your puter. katie Couric says the couple is being investigated for harassing the whale.

...and now I understand that the captain/crew of the boat are being investigated to see if they had "harassed" the whale. Give me a break....
