How about the one that chased us back in 2008?
First he was on Ted, then he turned towards me. Chased my stern for several minutes. Kept gaining on me till he was but 20 yards back. We had smaller boats back then, Ted a C270 and me a Capri 26. Was very odd incident to say the least. He was probably just young and curious, but who knows what is in the minds of beasts.
However, I can confirm that a humpback will run from the sound of gunfire.

This guy was moving some moorings around and swam right under the oat. About 25 feet. He looked a whole lot bigger when he surfaced about ten feet from my dinghy! Our dog had no idea what to make of it.
