I have been trying to sell my boat just using the internet. Of course it's listed in SailboatOwners.com. I am interested where most of y'all were looking for your last boat purchase. The boat is valued at $8,000 and the local broker wants $1,000 for a commission.

Post it...

in all the marine stores, West Marine/Boaters World, and marinas in the area that will let you. Most will. Local paper worked for me on my 1st two boats. Make sure you have a sign on the boat as well, with price and good phone #, Lots of people like to walk docks looking for boats.

Have you tried Ebay?

I've sold cars, motor cycles and boats on Ebay and have always gotten a fair price. The key is in the set up. You want to list all of the FAB's and show lots of pictures. Especially the boat in action. You can set a reserve price which is the lowest price you are willing to take. Good luck. Frank

I don't think...

Yacht World takes private ads. You have to be a broker in order to list on Yacht World. I believe this to be correct, but you might what to check. I agree with Craigs List. It is free and has good coverage. Local newspaper also works. Good luck.

Charity boat donation

I know the rules on auto donations have changed; I think the deduction price is the price the auto sells for within 3 months, Does a boat donation have the same restriction? Thanks for the Craiglist reply. I had overlooked it. The marina will not allow any signs on the coat. It would detract from their broker business. Bob C

Follow some

auctions on eBay to get an idea of what your boat would bring. I've bought/and sold boats and sold cars and have been pleased so far.

Try Craigs List

You have to repost every day or two, but I have been amazed at the results. I have sold boats through brokers, local Buy and Sell, Big City (Vancouver) Buy and Sell, Yachtworld, Boat Trader, and notes on bulliten boards. This year, Craigs List has produced better than any of the others. Post on alternate days in cities near you.

sailingtexas.com

The BEST site to sell you sailboat is at sailingtexas.com it is a great site to buy or sell! It is a great site to get ideas of future boats and specs. What's more is it isn't just for texas, it is the whole fifty states and then some. I have no affiliation (sp) with this site but like using it for my own interest. Hope this helps, Sincerely, Brian
