Looking for advice / opinions on how to go about replacing the wet exhaust hose for my cat 30 with the Universal 25 engine. The hose runs look tight and full of curves. I sure would appreciate some pointers from someone who has done this in the past.

it can be done

Shep I replaced the exhaust hose from water box to stern a few years ago. Patience, remove the old hose carefully noting the course it takes. I emptied the port locker and worked from inside there and also removed the drawer unit in the galley. Un clamp the hose from the stern thruhull then pull it back through to the port locker, then pull that part of the hose out into the cockpit, then do the same from the water box end unclamping it and then pull it into the port locker. It helps to have a second set of hands to push the free end while you pull from the port locker. Measure the old hose then reverse the process. I used a heat gun to soften the ends to fit the water box and the stern thru hull. Just be patient - you'll get it.

Exhaust replacement

I just replaced mine on an 83 C30. I went from the 1 5/8 dia to the 2" as I went from the 5411 engine to the m25xp. My hose routed from the aqualift outbd to portside, behind the stove and icebox, into the portside locker, up along the botoom of the portside coaming into the aft locker and then to the stern. Going behind the stove and icebox with 2" was tricky. I changed the shape of the factory hole in the port locker to be oblong so I could route the hose at an angle with less bend. In the aft locker I bought 2 fiberglass 90deg elbows from Fisheries supply as I cold not make the bends at all. To pull the hose behind the stove I made on the wood lathe a plug to fit the hose with a center hole for a line to pull with. This area is very tight and the hose must be held up while pulling thru. In my boat there was a hole behind the stove for gas that I could get a screw driver in that could hold the hose up while pulling. Good luck can answer more questions if you like Ed
