Thanks all, still digging for the filter n zns v v covered space.
Will revert w news tks.
Any comments re running engine at max throttle tied up (2600 max on mine B30) to docks vs running in water (can max 3000 in water)...as I only need 15 mins @ mandatory 5knt from berth into Bay so seldom reach Max revs. Maybe can just rev tied up if not damaging to engine. Ts.
You can't test for max rated RPM tied up. 3000RPM, not tied up, for your engine, is still 600RPM over-propped. When you put it in gear at idle being over-propped will cause you to move faster than you want to through the water, as well as dropping your engine to a loaded idle speed low enough to cause vibration. Start by getting the right prop and then you can move through the rest of the issues, if they remain.

I finally found the secondary westerbeke fuel filter below the back part of the engine after removing some wires n covers etc.
Now my question is how to unscrew the metal ring to change the fuel filter as it's completely stuck (not changed for the past at least 10 yrs..1780hrs). As adviced by ever y one of you, I changed fuel and cleaned fuel tank, replaced primary racor filter exhaust elbow service delivery injectors but could not find to change this westerbeke secondary filter.

Alas my engine AGAIN died suddenly this last trip while motoring again in rough seas but could be restarted ran a few seconds then died 5-6 times, had to be towed into berth!
So this filter is probably the primary culprit.
Any advice how to remove this really stuck ring in a confined space. I've used even a mastercraft pipewench and couldn't move it.
Thanks again.

600RPM over-propped.
Mainsail, tks for your advice.
I don't understand the over-propped comments.
Have a 15 inch 3 blade maxprop on 1inch shaft, in a B361.
Is the prop too big for m boat? Tks.

It means your prop is not allowing the engine to get to the rated RPM as dictated by Westerbeke. In the case of a Max-Prop you are likely over-pitched. For a Westerbeke, Universal, Yanmar or even a Beta you need to be able to attain your max RPM (for you this is 3600 RPM) in flat water at full throttle position. If this was a new engine your warranty would have been voided..

This is for the 30C Three but your Westerbeke 30B-Three has the same exact warning..
