westerbeke and universal

Gorden, I have Westerbeke engine in my H33, it's a model 21a. I have several questions about this engine after searching your web site. Is this a 21 or a 24 hp engine? Somewhere someone told me it was rated at 24 hp. Also, when searching for parts on your web site I find no model 21a, just a w-21. Am I to assume they are the same engine? Lastly, when I put in the w-21 part number, your site brings up Univeral engine parts, are some Univeral and Westerbeke parts interchangable?? Thanks for your time and help.

Steven,The Westerbeke W-21a is the second generation engine replacing the Westerbeke W-21. The W-21 uses a front sadle mount and the W-21a utilizes four point mounts. In addition to the mounts, the two have different cooling systems. Otherwise they are essentially the same. The W-21a is rated at 22hp @ 3000rpm. With the introduction of our new Westerbeke site, the headers and images remained dedicated to Universal. We will have this corrected by late this morning. Please note that Westerbeke part numbers are five digit and Universal are six digits. Happy Holidays
