Anyone know which Mitsubishi engine is the basis of the Westerbeke 38B?

Don't let the Mitsu folks know that you are looking for parts for a marine engine! I was helping a buddy rebuild his 38B from a Tartan 37 .. we took a piston to the Mitsu tractor place (after noticing the Mitsu logo inside the piston) and they immediately stopped helping when he mentioned Westerbeke.. apparently there is a trade restriction on the parts that most Mitsu parts guys know about.. We ultimately matched the piston bore/engine displacement with a list of Mitsu tractor motors and were able to work around them that way.. saved a lot of dollars on rings/bearings/gaskets.. I don't remember the numbers, unfortunately..

So, anyway, .... Just wanted to refresh this thread, maybe someone knows the answer. Is it needless to say that I've scoured the 'net via google, without success?

I'm not giving up. I'm not going to pay $42 for a glow plug; or $36 for a glow plug solenoid; or $900 for a starter. These are worth $6, $7, and $150, respectively.

Oh, and the paint. Westerbeke red - $32 per rattle-can. Rust-Oleum equivalent, anyone, for $2.39?
