Does anyone know the function of the wire rope attached to the lower back end of the centerboard? I just purchased this boat and had a situation with this cable falling out the bottom on the first outing. Quite a large ball of weeds can be can be gathered dragging one of these around a shallow lake.

Normally a wire rope pennant would be used to raise and lower the center board. The WWP 15 may have a second pennant that would serve the purpose of keeping the center board deployed in the lowered position or locked in the down position.

If it is not for retracting the CB and if the potter CB does not lock down by some mechanical means, it may be there or have been added to allow you to extract the CB from its trunk duing a knock down or turtle type capsize. You then can stand upon the CB as a lever to right the boat.

God Bless, jimmyb
