West System Six-10

Can I use West System Six-10 to fill the holes I am drilling for my new traveller before drilling the epoxy for final installation? At less than 20 dollars a tube this seems like a much more economical option for the few holes that I need to fill versus buying even a quart of epoxy plus hardener plus all the accessories.

I use and like it BUT i think it would a bit on the thick side for filling holes which would leave voids as one of the things that makes it good is its no run or sag ability

The shelf life of West System epoxies is at least 5 years.

If you get a quart or so, along with some Cabosil for thickening, you will be surprised how many uses it has and how much versatility you get when used with varying amounts of thickener. You get predictability from expereince gained with a single system.

If it's only a few holes you may be quite pleased with smaller Locktite epoxy packages from Home Depot. Handy and suitable if just a few holes. There is no reason you can't add a thickener (Cabosil) to Locktite epoxy; I've often used this approach when I have a single or a few small holes to fill.

I'm not knocking System 3 or MAS Epoxies; I imagine the same statements hold true. It's generally more the prep and conditions (temp) than the product.
