Which is best. Clairborne Young and his book of charts or the guide by Tom Lenfestey and purchase standard charts.

In my opinion....

...I'll bet you get about 50/50 responses. I'm a chart/cruising guide junkie, so I have them both. If I only chose one, I believe I'd go with Lenfesty and standard charts. Check the attached link...it may be of some interest.

Young Cruising Guides, GPS, and charts! best of all worlds! of course, I still manage to get lost! ;)

Claiborne Young gets my vote

We have some of Claiborne Young's cruising guides and find them excellent. We even use them when exploring the coast by auto.I must admit I am not familiar with Lenfesty and do not have any of those cruising guides. I would go with regular charts or the BBA Chartkit if it covers your area of interest. I recently purchase a Claiborne chartbook and it is excellent quality and nice for use at home but with the hard cover does not lend itself to easy use on the boat. Wayne s/v Wind Drift h340
