Stunning! Did he know what he was doing or was he completely clueless.

More and more these type folks are becoming the norm in day to day encounters. I am currently on a theme about cell phones....... sat watching a peaceful day across the harbor yesterday, a B&B fairly close by......... and on the 3rd floor deck sat a woman on her cell. First 30 minutes she was non stop to someone...hung up and continued calling one after another... .... Funniest one was she was telling the person on the other end "yes, we are in Dana Point overlooking the harbor and it is BEAUTIFUL....so PEACEFUL and RELAXING".... !!!!! Well NOT FOR US it wasn't with her non stop chatter at too high a pitch and too loud for a private conversation.

Gosh, I guess I shouldn't have started..........

This past weekend we had a couple of kayaks pass by about 1/4 mile away with the women yapping continuously and loudly. I heard every word. Also making statements to her paddling partner about the serenity and peace. Luckily she was moving and soon out of range. Maybe her friend there was just waiting for the right opportunity to....

Same place last year had a wonderful lobster bake at sunset on the beach with MaineSail and his family. A couple with a boy come in off their Carver and start shooting off fireworks. We made a few sarcastic remarks but they didn't catch on.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed out in public!

MAN ! Tim... These folks are REALLY important and if they didn't yap constantly, the cell networks would collapse.. and the world would probably come to a rapid demise.. It must be strange to have to be constantly yakking so that there can be no silence from which to listen to your own head..?? Why it is important to know that Betty has a certain shade of eye shadow escapes me..

It goes along with stupid

I am no longer amazed by the stupid and totally inconsiderate things people do. It is evident every time I get on the water. A day does not go bye without hearing calls for help to the coast guard. One of the dumbest I have seen in a while was Fourth of July a little after high noon. Coming into the channel behind Deer Island, over at Biloxi. It was an absolute circus in there. Boats going every which way, most wide open, even though a lot of it is a no wake zone. Right down the middle of the channel, comes a boat pulling a very small child on a knee board. Looked like maybe five or six years old. Boat wakes going every direction, and a lot of junk in the water. I find it hard to believe that any parent could be so careless or stupid.

My fav was the idiot in an inflatable pulling a small child through the mooring field weaving through the boats...talk about a recipe for disaster.

I had forgotten about those losers...... Still was a great lobster bake if it were not for the nouveau riche wanna be dude with the Mr. T starter kit of man jewelry, and his fireworks.... Even his son thought he was a tool.....

The stupidest and most inconsiderate person I have ever seen east of Schoodic Point was myself. I can't wait to pass the bell and see the tall spire of Tit' Manan on the horizon. The lobstermen go home early so you can actually sit in your cockpit and watch the sun go down without hearing the sound of an internal combustion engine anywhere. I watched last cruise and there was not a moment until I was past the Chartkit word that was true.

Glad you were able to make the launch Brian and sorry that over funded turd inserted himself in your view. There is plenty of room on the river up there so I'd bet the a-hole was just wanting some attention.
You didn't happen to get the name or port for that big ugly plastic condo did you?
We usually watch from the front yard but when there is cloud cover like on 135, we join(ed) the millions of non-Brevardians in front of the tube.

After contacting the Trent River Bridge, New Bern, waiting for the bridge captain to stop vehicle traffic and raise the bridge, and proceeding towards the opening at about four knots, we were about 100 feet from the buffer timbers when a bass boat runs around, stops in the open channel, and throws a tube toy and kid out. Both the bridge captain and I laid down a long repetetive series of blasts from horns as I slowed and then reversed Carolina. The bass boat operator never looked back at me as he throttled up and towed the tube toy and kid up the river. About half an hour later a CG RIB from Station Hobucken went up the Trent as well, but I think the bass boat pulled out on a trailer before they caught up with him.

WOT through an anchorage area

I think the power boaters are generally clueless. Last Saturday we were anchored with about 200 other boats outside of Tim's II on the Potomac River waiting for fireworks and we had at least a dozen boats go rolling through all the anchored boats at full throttle throwing wakes.

I just wonder what the guy should have done. Should he have not watched the launch from his boat? Could he have moved farther offshore and would that have helped?

I'd have chosen a spot at an angle so that anyone on the shore would have a view one side or the other. When he parked directly in front, a straight view across, he left no option for the people on the shore. And YES, if taking a huge blocking boat out in a situation where it blocks alot of people then YEAH, you don't do it. I think you first think of others, then you fit into the situation where you impact lightly or not at all.

If I remember that part of the lagoon correctly, he had about a 3 mile arc to moor in and get the same view. And probably 10 miles to the south for almost as good a view.
No so the people onshore.
