If you want a P.S. account,

ask WM how to get one. It is well worth the effort. I got one and it was not that difficult. You can be added to another account (with the account owners permission) if you cannot get an account on your own. Maine Sail, who said I am not a business?? The thing I resent about this company is that if I have a P.S. account, I can get the exact same item for one third or less than the cost for someone who does not. The only reason for that is that the civilian gets hosed. It is a free country though and I usually shop somewhere else. I can understand a few percent increase in price for the public market where those customers require more service. They present more problems for WM than a shipwright who knows what to get and how to use it. Less time educating the guy and less chance it will get returned for some stupid reason like it was installed wrong, wrong color, etc.. A zinc does not require a rocket scientist to install it and is not likely to be the wrong color so triple the price is unethical IMHO.

I feel for sure you know that costco stands for China Over Seas Trading Company. That's even worse than trading with Sam. At least some of Sam's money does things here in the USA. None of costco's does. And I abhor Walmart, Costco even more. I can see the correlation between West Marine and 7-11. They have what you need and they get their price. Convenience has a price that people are willing to pay for. Just like the all-night gas station. Higher prices, but when you need it, you need it. It's not like sailing is needed to sustain life. It can wait, but unfortunately, we wont. Life's curves coming at ya! It's good to "see" you on the Internet again. Keep it up, Ctskip Just wait till summer is in full swing. Prices will catch up and we'll all be crying in our beer

Somehow I consider your reference to my openness as a thinly veiled threat. You make claims to knowledge and yet have many excuses to conceal your sources. The commodity price of Zinc had quadrupled. but yea, there seems some intermediation. The US Mint is having trouble with the cost to make pennies and nickles. The penny takes 1.7 Cent to make the nickle is almost under water too.

Sailing is still NOT a necessity to life. (I know, I know ! It does feel as if it IS to many of us though!!) We do not NEED a marine Chandlery. We NEED food, water, shelter. You need to put things into perspective. 94% of the population in the world is lucky to have more than just basic necessities in life and you are stridently adhering that it is your 'God given right' to have a decent accessible Marine Chandlery that has reasonable and low price !?! LOL !?! Thats funny ! Having a local chanderly is a "nicety" in this world and having one that has bargain prices is a "luxury". You are SOOOOoooo wrong. A 7-11 is more important to life for many people than a marine chandelry would ever be . Most of us do NOT need a marine chandlery. I guess what is ever is best for "Fred" is what the "US gumnent" and the markets should do. Damn everyone else and the integrity of an open free market where everyone is allowed the chance to excell and fail.

I guess the problem is I was taking you at your word and reading EXACTLY what you wrote. Pardonne moi. Next time I will remember that you are not as articulate with your wording and when you compare West Marine & 7-11 we'll know that it doesn't always make sense.
