Went to the Boat Show this Weekend

Saw lots and lots of really nice boats there. Walking around in a dazze (sic)looking at all the gleam and glitter and happy people and low and behold, there is a boat looking almost as nice as Maine Sail's. No one can make a boat look as good as his does, no one. And this thing had a 3.5 million dollar sticker hanging on it.

Maine Sail, how in the world did you get your boat to look so good? It looked better coming out of the water than mine does going in .

Break down please and share your secret with me please!

Although my sweetie liked the CC Hunter 50, we are still more than happy and satisfied, and content with our Catalina 387 .

Nice to come home feeling that way and not full of want and desire.

The couple that is working with me this week also went to the boat show. sailed down in an old but well kept 22 foot Macgregor something. They said that they were sailing down near Thomas Point in about 10-15 with full main and jib flying with a fifty something Morris MOTORED past them. The skipper hailed them and said he loved their boat. Some folks sail and some folk have fancy boats.

The admiral and I also went to the show. For some reason the Hunter 50' CC didn't appeal to us. The companionway steps are an accident waiting to happen! The jacuzzi was over the top and impractical. On the flip side, my wife absolutely loved the Hunter 45 DS. She said it was her favorite of the show. I have to say the Pacific Seacraft 31' is the one I would buy if I had the $$$$ (my wife also likes it), but the Cherubini 44' is a work of art!
It was nice to see a decent turnout at the show and the weather really cooperated.
It's funny, we both also left the show feeling very content with our 28 year old Hunter.

It didn't impress or do to much for us either. And oh yes about the companion way. I watched someone at the show almost bust their katoochie big time. Course, that person was entering the boat by trying to walk down the steps forwards instead of backwards.

I guess the point of my pic of the hot tub was, how utterly extravagent

I mean, like who in the world needs a hot tub in a 50 foot sailboat?

What I wondered was about the source of the water? Where do you get that much water? I guess this boat is made for someone that never drops the anchor in the water cause they don't want to get it dirty. So that would mean it would always be at a dock with a water hose hooked up to it.

Oh well, to each their own.

I had the same thoughts ITMaster, I guess you would have to be at the dock hooked up to public water to use the tub. I don't know what the specs are for the freshwater tankage on the 50', but one fill would use quite a bit. Plus who would want to get the sole all wet from getting in and out of that thing? (and imagine if a big wake came rolling through the marina while using the tub!!!!!)
I did get a kick out of the "lounge" seat - it seems like the a/c unit is directly underneath it - a few ladies came in while my wife and I were in there and they thought that it was a vibrating seat!!!! We laughed all the way up the tricky steps!
Could you imagine - vibrating massage beds on a sailboat? Just drop a quarter in....

But back to the show! I was impressed with the Pacific Seacraft boats. The guy that restarted the company has done a great job and I wish him well. Classy, well done, seawothy, and priced out of my league but very reasonable by comparison.
Did anybody notice the Parasail? GREAT concept, ah but again out of my league at 10K for a spinaker. www.parasail.com

Tub anecdotes

My parents decided to buy a camper to use on the Cape summers. My Mother, who was adverse to showering, insisted that they get a camper with a shower. They ended up having to get a much bigger camper to get one with a tub. They couldn't tow it comfortably with an 86 Olds 98 with a 3.8L so their camping outlet sold them an S10 Blazer...with a 2.8L...go figure. By the way, she tried the shower, liked it and NEVER did use the tub.

The sister ship to my 9.2A, the 9.2C (center cockpit), has a small tub. To date I have never seen any owner thrilled to have one...pretty good for holding a litterbox, as I recall reading. I bet $20 you can't fill it with hot water with a typical water heater you would find on this boat. What are they? 6-10 gallons?

I just had a vision of an owner firing up his hot tub...and the lights on all the boats on the finger of his pier winking out as he trips their main circuit breaker...:cussing:
