Do you have any opinion about the backflushable Wema sending units? I'm considering getting them, but when I've removed my present sending units to clean them when they get stuck, it takes lots more than just soaking in water to remove all the crud that builds up on the cage and float. Does the backflush get them unstuck and back to working order? Many thanks.

Unless your tank is metaI, buy an AcuGage, George

The one which has a foil strip that goes on the outside of the tank. Nothing to clog. I dont know how well the Wema backflushable senders work. However, the success or failure of most devices depends largely upon whether the user actually follows directions. I haven't read the directions...but if Wema recommends backflushing every time you pump out to PREVENT clogging, are you actually gonna go to the trouble to do it...or will you do what most people do--wait till it clogs and THEN try to clean it by backflushing it...and complain because it doesn't work as advertised? The AcuGage doesn't require any effort to keep it working.

Difference in Price?

Peggy: Any idea what the difference in price is between the Wema and Accu Gage? Mark Johnson

wema gauge

I purchased new sending units a year ago because of the constant plugging problem like what you have. I bought the new back flush types. At the same time I started pouring some dawn dishwashing soap into the holding tank each time I pumped out. So far, I have yet to have any problems with the units plugging up so have not used the back flushing part yet. I think the soap help break down the paper and oils and keeps it from plugging up the holes.....Might be worth a try. I made it a year so far with no problems.

AcuGage Drawback

Got the Wema back flush. Concept is okay. I think they have in mind that you back flush each time you dump. On that basis there would be less build up. Only complaint about the AcuGage and the reason I got the replacement sensors is that the AcuGage meter is very L A R G E requiring moving the gauge to some other location. Replacement is doing fine, though I've only had it less than 6 months.

Yup, it's metal

Unfortunately, they are metal. Will have to wait a while till eventually I replace with plastic tanks to use the other gauges you mentioned.
