At last I "think" the rigging on the 260 must be OK. After messing around for some time with shroud tension. Sailing at the weekend we average 5.8kn and top speeds of 6.4. So I guess pretty happy at last with the 260's performance. Wind speed? About 15-18kn. Now the big question how do I get her to go just that little bit faster again???

Everything is Great - new Grand-daughter

Third grand daughter on Dec 28, so we have been occupied. Another one is due first of May. This grand parenting stuff is alot of work! ;D Working on the interior boat stuff, making a new dinning table, moving 280lbs of batteries to straighten out the boat. Otherwise just waiting for the sailing weather. How did your curise go? Remember you were planning to be out for a couple of weeks. As far as tuning goes, you are probably at the limit of what can be done without spending money. The speeds you reported sound right on for what I was getting with my H260. Gosh, Jim

You'd think your kids would have the common courtesy not to give birth during sailing season! :)

My cruise Jim

I was asked to help get a 50 footer from Albany to Hobart however with work and family it seemed out of the question. The married couple asked that I then think about sailing to Esperance which I jumped at for it is only a 24 hour sail. Fantastic. I recall at two in the morning (with the three of us we were doing 1 hour on 2 hours in the sack)on my own at the helm. The swell was quite big. I guess about 25 feet or so. This yacht weighs in a about 40 ton and boy oh boy did she love surfing down the face of the swells. The trip was about 220nm. We left Albany at 6.30amSunday and arrived in Esperance at 9.00 Monday morning. 8-9 knots at times. Hell I love this sailing business. Yep it's a passion! Lovely to read about your family. My best regards.
