SailboatOwners.com

This has been a large project and there are many of you to thank for your help. But that will come in a separate post later today.

But speaking of thanks, we'd like to thank you for your patience and loyalty in 2008. The forums were down a lot and was frustrating for us all. We appreciate you sticking with us.

Right now, we'd like to know what we can do to make this a better, more valuable site for you.

We're looking for your input!

Phil, Looks good so far after kicking the tires a few times. I'll have to spend more time taling it for a test drive.

Kudos for the massive effort

It is much appreciated.

Just a note, Phil, I'm struggling with the mouse over drop down menus. They are dropping down behind not in front and are very difficult to tag before disappearing. When I do get them, I get a 404 message for the very top portion of the new page but I do get the posts under.

Thanks again

Chris Burti

Chris - what browser/version and OS are you using?

Charlie: I can bring the avatar over but it may be a day or so. You can also upload a new on from your Edit Profile screen. :)

Phil, I get the same problem as Chris, IE 7.0 and Windows XP Pro.

Looks good Phil... Congrats... I know what a tough job it is to make a major overhaul. Good news is that www.lohsa.com looks to be still working.

One note you may be aware of: When I went to the forums page for new posts, I get a Not Found message at the header area. It states URL /mail_content/newads0.html.

Nice Job Phil. Still looking around, but what I see is nice. You did a good job in keeping all of the data from the old databases.

Hi Phil,

I know you guys have been bustin' your butts to get this new site up and running. I'm sure you'll be debugging it for a while. The general look and feel of the site is good. It seems to be designed for a wider monitor than I have as I'm seeing some overlap in the headings. It will take a while to re-train on the new site, to see what I like better about this one and miss about the old one.

I hate to be the first complainer but I really hate having the original post at the bottom of the thread. Before, we could click on the thread, read the question and decide if it was of interest to us. Now we have to search to the end of the thread (some of these are more than 1 page) to read it. They are also not really visually separated from the responses so I keep going past them to the reply block and then have to start back up looking for it.

Phil, I really enjoy this site, it's at least a once-a-day stop for me. I appreciate all of your efforts to maintian it as the high quality site it has become.

So far so good

I like the new look, getting around seems to be simple and straight forward. All in all, good job.

Gonna take some time to get used to.
Looks great so far - love the spelling check option - I just installed it!
GREAT TEXT OPTIONS TOO!

Thanks Brian

Brian,

That solves half of the problem. Now I get the original post at the top (Linear-Oldest First) but I have to go search to the end to find the latest replys. I know.....picky, picky! It will take a while to learn all of the great new features.

Edit.....Problem solved. There is a button at the top of the thread that says "First Post". Clicking on that takes you right to the latest reply. I love it!

Edit#2...Now I can't find it!

Edit#3...Ok, I think I've got it now. The button appears at the top of the original post (Linear-Oldest First) ONLY when there are new (unread) replies. Even better....it takes you directly to the oldest unread reply. That way you don't have to waste time figuring out which replys you've already read and which ones are new to you! Genius! I should have expected such convienence from Phil.

Do we have to reregister our user names and info for the new site.
This is a nice refit to the site. I saw that they now have spell check. What a relief, I had to keep a word document open for the hard words, like gramare. lol
