SailboatOwners.com

We have a new member of the SailboatOwners.com family: Trevor MacLachlan starts today as the forum moderator on CatalinaOwners.com. Trevor has sailed all his life and currently owns a Catalina 36, Dunoon. He has worked at a Seattle boat yard, been a brand manager for a computer hardware retailer, survived a couple of dot coms, and is currently the operations manager at Signature Yachts in Seattle. His sailing resume includes the Med, a couple circumnavigations of Vancouver Island (one on a 28' Islander!), and innumerable cruises throughout the Pacific Northwest. Trevor truly knows and loves sailing and the boats that make it possible. While Trevor's primary activity will be on CatalinaOwners.com, you can expect to see his name floating around all of our web sites and shared forums. We're thrilled to have him on board! Please give a big SailboatOwners.com welcome to Trevor!

Thanks so much for voluntering your time to this wonderful web site. I don't own a Catalina but do have a Pearson-26 and I'm sure I will learn something from someone with your experience. Thanks! David

Thanks Phil, Bly and all at SBO!

I can't tell you how pleased I am to be involved with SailboatOwners.com. Thanks for the kind welcome! I've been around boats since I was a "wee lad" and look forward to sharing my experience and learning more from you all! LaDonna has been a great friend and support over the past couple years and I wish her and Rob well in their future sailing adventures. Meanwhile, it's just about time to scrub that mildew off the decks and get ready for some sailing! Trevor

Waht Now?

What now? Due to my moving my business and restructuring, I needed to get out of boating for one or two summers. Having sailed for 40 years, the last 191/2 of it in my Catalina 36, Black Magic, I find myself with a twin delima. What do I do without a boat, and wht do I get next? I have been spoiled by my 36. Where do I go from there?

Keep Sailing!

Hi m merrithew - I have found myself without a boat before (it was brief, thank goodness!). The best thing to do is to get in touch with others and go sailing on their boats... this can mean crewing on races. I always learn something when racing. Another option is to get yourself a small trailerable daysailor to get your fix until you get the next "big boat". And bigger doesn't necessarily mean better sailing - I used to own a Formosa 51 and loved it, but I gotta say I enjoy sailing the Catalina 36 more. And you've always got this site to keep you thinking about being out there in the wind... Best, Trevor

Email address

Hi MIchael - Try: trevor@sailboatowners.com I don't know why the Signature email address isn't working for you... I guess I'm the designated IT guy, so I'll look into it! Thanks, Trevor

Rodd, nice site!

My C36 is a 1986 TR. One of these days I'd like to put together a site like yours. In the meantime, all I have handy is the attached photo from the west side of Vancouver Island. Your boat sure looks well taken care of! Trevor
