@pclarksurf Just need some way to steer the trailer and you can have a real land yacht.
And I'm only half joking. When I was a kid, I made a sail out of a kid pool liner, and spent a nice windy day blasting up and down our newly paved street on my skateboard.

When we raised the mast on our C22 to measure for a new mainsail, the nerd and kid in me was musing on how to make it workable on land. :D

Official "driveway sailing" requires wine and burgers for 4 in the cockpit. hehe Been there done that.

I actually think we need to stage some sort of yard sailing regatta.......buncha drunks with sails up, hard charging nowhere!

A life analogy.......hmm.......! ‍♂

I driveway sail quite a bit, at least until the rum hits hard and the horizon starts pitching around. Once my neighbors hear the racket of an anchor and chain hitting the cement, they know it's time to come get me off the boat and back in the house......

We didn't make it in the water Monday, but we launched Tuesday and left the boats in until Saturday. Some good sailing last week... Here's one of my boat and my brothers '74 (he's the one with nice sail covers) at our transient slips on Smith Mountain Lake, VA

And one of my boat with all the recent upgrades. Note the lack of jib winches (totally awesome for singlehanding), and the main sheet traveler.. (untraveler), and my new to me kick up rudder.

Weekends are for fun sails or fun races on BlueJ. Last Saturday we gathered a crew of sailing friends and did the Big Island race. One part of the race has you taking up a 80 foot wide channel between the mainland and the island, surrounded by powerboats. Good things is, they know the drill and stay clear.

It was light in the channel, but happily it picked up going downwind to the finish.

Great pics! Great boats! Kudos!

Is the big sail a 180?

Approximately. It's actually a Seidelmann sail. I picked it up for $40 on eBay. The luff was about the same length as my forestay so I bought it. Seidelmann built fractional rigs so I think it's for a much larger boat, maybe a S25. It really drives the 22 in light wind. Looks cool too.

LOL, that's a heck of a deal!! We have a 180 also, bright red. It was an eBay special too. $250 shipped, I think, about 99% condition, just one little berry-juice-looking stain on it which has almost disappeared now.

Yeah, they're such a great light air sail. One of the blessings a hank-on rig. We can also point substantially higher with that sail than any other.

This past weekend
Aaaah, Narragansett - our favorite beverage. The purists would have it in cans like Quint, but we prefer the bottles with the little puzzles inside the cap. That, and we can't get it in cans...
