I have a Webasto Heating System in my 2007 Beneteau 343 which doesn't work when at anchor. The system heats and air is blown but it never gets hot. It remains cool.

What does the control unit light flash? Five short, one long and three short etc? This is the unit’s method of communication. Also if your fuel tank is 1/4 or less, the pick-up will only pump air and you’ll get no heat and five short flashes!

I forgot... at this time of year the chimney might be blocked bi spider nests and since the unit can’t breathe it won’t fire-up thus no heat.

We have confirmed that the unit is working properly with the flashes. We had a Webasto guy come and have a look. "everyting seems to be working fine." But it's not. the next step is to see how how the coolant is getting.

My unit is a 2008 Airtop 3500 unit... I had it overhauled once after spider nests had blocked the exhaust: there was unbelievable soot build-up. After the unit was cleaned and memory erased it has always performed well. Last week we had a cold spell and I fired it up... no heat, awful smell and black soot coming out of exhaust. I cleaned the exhaust and pulled a few spider nests out. Then I erased the unit’s memory by pulling the fuse out. After replacing fuse I turned unit on and all was good. Further than this and instruction booklet I can’t help! Sorry, and now is the time when it is needed.

Can you put a stopper in the exhaust when not used for some time?

I imagine... just about the size of a wine bottle cork. But would I forget?

:plus:... The one time that ours would not heat... ended up having an air bubble in the fuel line from a low fuel level in the tank.
