I saw this solar weather station and was wondering what everyone uses out there. I know it's almost overkill, but I thought it might come in handy on longer trips. Any thoughts?

IMHO you can NEVER have too much weather info. This come from 50 years of flying and 25 years of sailing. I think the system shown could be easily adapted to sailboat use, even to the point of mounting the anonemeter at the top of the mast for those of us without. (An amonemeter that is.). Also at the "related site" (Costco) there's a cheaper system which receives weather from MSNBC over a FM network. Might he worth investigating.

Dave, It looks like it has coverage limitations, with very specific locations. The OSI WMR-968, looked like a good setup specially considering I'm about to install a windex on my mast I thought this might be a longer lasting more effective solution...dunno. I guess pricier solution too.. -Sean

Try Davis Instruments

I have ordered several items from them before. I found them to be reasonable in price and knowledgeable if you have any questions. I also receive weather fax on my ham radio into my laptop and printer.....i found this to be not all that worth the time . If coastal or ocean cruising is your thing, get a HAM radio license and get on 14.300Mhz, The Mariners Net.

BTW............

Davis Instruments also has a free weather club news letter. Its mostly from amateur meteorologists. Great info in the news letter.
