Try easing the main
first before you start getting too radical. It's Ok if the front third of your main is luffing some. If a luffing main makes you feel uneasy, try moving your traveler to leeward. If that doesn't help than you probably need to reef. You can also try taking some of the aft rake out of the mast if possible but start with the easiest solution first. You could also replace the main with one with less roach. The objective behind all these mehtods is to move your center of effort forward or, as is the case with reefing, to move the CE lower As for modifying the keel, remember that the engineers who designed the boat built the specs into it for a reason. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, modifying one spec will more than likely require a modification of something else and on and on in order to achieve the desired effect. Hope this helps some.-RolandS/V Fraulein II
