After searching and boarding many boats we decided on a 2000 Catalina 320. It was between that and a 310. It was a toss up for me but the Admiral liked the 320. We agreed on a price and now the survey. I never spent this kind of money on a boat so I'm pretty freaked out. The boat is very clean and compared to what we've looked at I believe it was a fair final price at 65K. So here we go!

Hey congratulations!

You're a wise man to keep the wife happy and a lucky one if she likes to sail.

Best of luck on the survey.

Check the lower furling drum on your Schaeffer 2100 if so equipped, the early models had no holes for flushing with fresh water so will freeze up. Replacement drum is about $140 plus a rigger's fee, holes on new models are at the top of drum under the furling line.
Congrats, 320's are enjoyable boats.

Congratulations on your choice. The Catalina 320 Association has a website and wonderful e-mail forum where you can post issues and get answers from other owners: catalina320.com. Membership, $24/year, is required to post/answer. No membership is required to view and search the e-mail forum archives at http://groups.google.com/group/c320-list

You are in fine company. There are 3 C320s at our Maryland Marina (two of which are your vintage,) and I know of at least a dozen more within a days sail. Often, yoou can get direct help with a problem.

Great boat, you'll love it. One of the reasons I got a 320 over the 310 is because the head room is greater toward the bow
