need some help. i have a wc newport electric head and the intake doesn't draw water. i took it apart and the vanes on the impeller are intact and flexible, but it seems to be very tight and is hard to turn in its space. the hoses seem to have no problem. the impeller is not fixated to the electric motor shaft. Is this just a lack of grease or is the impeller supposed to be like this?
thanks

Not sure yet...

That part is the way it should be. However, I'm not sure what you mean by, the impeller is not fixated to the electric motor shaft. The shaft turns the impeller so it has to be keyed into the pump somehow.
We prob'ly need to talk instead of type while we're both looking at the exploded drawing...email me (EMAIL please, not PM) with your phone number and I'll give you a call tomorrow.

i looked again , the shaft of the impeller has no key or cotter pin. on the same shaft is mounted the macerator which is keyed with a cotter pin. when i spin the shaft with the motor, the impeller won't budge, is tight. i looked at the specs from wilcox crittenden and it does not note a key or pin that holds the impeller on the diagram. that diagram is now available on the thetford website. for the newport model 1600.
