I was waxing my boat and a friend told me I should put wax on the bottom paint. I have never waxed bottom paint, I wax just up to the bottom paint. Can anyone help? should you wax or not?

Sure, why not

I've heard repeatedly from folks who wax down past the waterline. Hear it helps keep the crud down. Go down a foot or two and run the test for yourself. Steve P.

Both types of bottom paint, hard and ablative require constant exposure to the water in order to release the antifouling agent. Wax keeps water away from the surface so it can't be exposed.
