Waxing varnish

Anyone ever waxed their exterior varnish?
I have 8 coats of gloss Epifanes on loads of teak, and am wondering if wax would do well to further protect it from the sun. I'm thinking a non-abrasive automotive-type wax, not boat wax.

If you have tried wax on varnish, any wax, please let me know results regarding sun protection. Good, poor, damaging, or indifferent.

-Or- anything besides wax? I've considered canvas, but the canvas required to cover all the wood would be expensive and a pain to constantly manage.

Here is a link for outdoor wood wax...........after reading it sounds like sould go on untreated wood not varnished......looks good in picture but seams like a lot of work and expensive.maybe contact web site or manufacture for some more info......sorry no experiance with this or any other type of wood wax but your idea seams interesting

The only maintenace is to keep it c lean. You have quite a few coats on it already. when it needs another coat, sand the top coat and then reapply.

Don't wax your varnish or you will have a bugger of a time getting the wax off prior to topcoating....

Simply keep it clean as Dave suggests.

Your best bet to protect that varnish is canvas. Just put it on when you are done sailing.

If your wood was properly prepped it will probably extend the life of the varnish by 3-4 times.
