12 Foot Rollers
Franklin, 12 foot rollers with no or little wind is easy - leftovers from a previous storm. We had these type after a Pacific storm off Catalina last year - 8-10', gentle rollers, big enough to make the horizon disappear while standing at the helm. I would guess that a sea too big for the 20kt winds might have a similar connection with wind elsewhere, or wind that had been greater hours or a day ago. I am not sure the formulas always apply where wind strength is changing. OC
