Rip: Your water tank project answered a lot of questions. Now that you have done the leg work I am not so reluctant to do mine. That was a pretty yucky mess. I guess it was a good idea that you cleaned it out. The water may not taste so bad now either. Make sure you follow the Head Mistress procedure for cleaning out your system too. Now that you have a clean tank, you might as well have clean pipes. Thanks again.

Clean pipes too.

Yeh! You might notice from the pictures that later pictures showed more water in the water tank than when we first removed the lid. The entire time the water tank was being pumped out, we were pouring a mild clorox mixture down the filler hose and the overflow hose. When the tank was empty we removed all the hoses to the sinks and hot water heater and squirted disinfectant back through them a couple of times and vacuumed it out of the water tank. Had to fill and then suck out disinfectant from the hot water heater with one of those plastic hand pumps that you work like a fishing reel. Then we cleaned the water tank with disinfectant. Anything alive in it, no longer is. Good luck with yours. I was surprised that it turned out to be one of the easier projects we have tackled on the boat.
