I'm getting ready to to strip the bottom paint and apply a new paint job of the entire hull of our(new to us) '75 22 w/o centerboard. The existing boot stripe appears to much higher than where the original would have been. Does anyone have some key diminsions of the true waterline so I can put her back right. I test stripped some areas to see if the original stripe could be seen, but saw nothing useful. Yes I know I could put her in the water to find out, and yes pictures might get me close, but I'm ready to strip and paint! Thanks.

Hmm...

I would think yours is probably original if there's nothing showing up when stripped. I could go out and messure mine if no one else does. Let me know. The only reason I'm apprenesive about doing it is that it's 25 degrees here and I've got it tarped!If it kicks up next week I'll let ya know. But I'm sure someone in a warmer area can do it before I can. Give ya a messurement from the rub rail.Josh

One Concern...

Using someone elses waterline bootstripe will be only an approximate to yours. Every similar model will be sightly different due to slight differences from the factory, and certainly from the outfitting each owner will have done (things added and how there distributed on the boat). If you can live with these differences then all's well. I can't for the life of me see any other way than floating her. If you do, fill all tanks. You want to approximate the weight you might normally have aboard. You may want to post this to a larger audience and their opinions.Don

Waterline Revisited

Stu thanks for the photo. Your boat looks very much like the original stripe configuration. It is now apparent to me how high my accent stripe is. At midship the strip is higher than my thruhull for the sink! On the trailer the boat looks like it draws 3'. The problem is the stripe position at the bow end is way off coarse. Thanks for your help. Also my 22'never had lifelines. Do you feel the lifelines on a 22' boat is just too much hardware?
