I am getting a new trailer for my O'Day 20 - does anyone know the waterline width of an O'Day 20. I know the beam is 7 feet, but that is not what I am looking for. Thank you.
If it was my boat I would get 3 long (12 feet) boards and with 3 folks get in the water, line up the boards on each side at water level then have one person at the stern measure the inside dimension between the boards.
The ODay 20 waterline is 17.25 feet. The trailer just needs adjustable bunks so you can move them inboard or outboard to match up with where the the interior berths are glassed to the hull to give support. The draft is 1.17 feet so an adjustable bunk power boat trailer should work. The trailer bunks should be about eight feet long and able to support the hull with a slight curve. The keel will sit on a flat board running down the center of the trailer and with about 1/3 of the keel length in front of the axle. The stern of the boat will over hang the bunks by about three feet. You want the weight of the boat on the keel with the bunks high enough to keep the boat stable. Should have about 200#s of weight on the hitch to make it trail properly. Hope that helps! Capt.GaryH
