I own a 1998 45’ Hunter Center Cockpit. The beam is listed at 14’, which I am assuming is the “maximum” beam width at the deck level. I need to know what the “waterline” beam measurement would be.

A post from many years ago says to use 90% of the deck-line beam to calculate the waterline beam, but I'd love the exact measurement if anyone knows it.

thanks!

Well...
If your boat is tied up in a slip with a finger pier that extends at least to the "beamiest" point of the boat, why not drop a plumb line from the (boat's point of maximum beam of the) rub rail, to the water, ... measure the perpendicular distance from where the plumb line enters the water to the water line of the boat, multiple by 2, and subtract from the 14' stated figure for the beam (at the deck).

Waterline Beam

Unfortunately, my boat is on the hard right now. I just sent an email to the boatyard to see if they could measure that for me, but I'm not sure how they would do it.

I am trying to figure out if I could squeeze into a slip that's 15 feet wide.

I thought maybe marinas had come up with a novel idea for calculating moorage rates.
