Hi there,

My boat is a S2 8.0 1979 that I bought in January 2010 which was dry stored by 15 years.

I recently found there is water under the cabin sole. I think is rain water and is my understanding the water must run into the bilge where the manual bilge pump is set, but is not happening.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

There is probably plumbing under the floor for the head drain if it doesn't just dump into the bilge under the sole. There may be limber holes under the sole (holes through cross members to allow water to pass) which have become clogged. Look in your bilge for a hose entering from under the sole. It may be laid out in the manual if you have one.

Same thing a few years ago in our 9.2a. Fresh water line from head running back to water heater and galley sink was cracked (freeze damage?). If you have significant water it would have to be a pretty big (and likely more obvious) leak if it was from rain water. We blew air thru the line which ran thru the pooled water and found the leak by seeing where the bubbles came from. We were fortunate enough to be able to see the spot by taking up the sockets the table legs fit in.

Any idea where the water is coming in? Look for stains at the junction of the deck an hull and in the wood work (if present) under the ports. Marking some lines with a dry erase marker and then showering the exterior of the ports with a hose might help. If you have a drain in the head you can put some water down it and watch the bilge to see what happens, but it may make things worse if it is not draining. You could also pull the cover on the draing and try running a snake through it. If there are table mounts in the sole you could remove them and look underneath them. Sorry, that's all I have for now. If you could scan your manual and post it I am sure others would appreciate it. I don't think there is a manual for an 8.0 available at the moment. Good luck. BobM
