After reading all of Peggy's articles and extensive cleaning, I've realized the source of a mysterious smell comes from beneath the sole of my H34(under dinette). I removed the post that supports the tabletop and was able to see beneath the sole (2-3 inch hole). Yep, there's about an inch of filthy, biological slop beneath that flows over the sole when the SOUTHERN WIND is heeled over.(WHEW!) Besides the use of a wet/dry vac, which I don't have, which dosen't seem to be a needed piece of equipment on a sailboat according to the manual, do any of you fine folks have any idea on how to fix this problem before it rots the sole completly? Thanks in advance and just a word of caution: I would like to encourage all to visit Charleston, but use caution when entering the Stono Inlet just south of Chas. Harbor. For all the years of cruising, this place takes the cake in difficulty after a few days of 20-25 knots.

Dinghy pump

I "dewater" the area under the dinette with a simple dinghy hand pump. You will always have a chance of getting water into that area if you have water in the bilge and heel to starboard. Some of it won't drain back into the bilge.
