Water under cabin floor - O'Day 23

Our '79 O'Day 23 has been accumulating water under the cabin floor(seen when the "trap door" is lifted), probably from a leak somewhere from all the rain we've been getting. (This area was dry as a bone last fall, but then we had a drought.) I'm wondering why this water doesn't flow into the area where the bilge pump is located (way down beneath the Saildrive motor...). Seems to me this water should be pumped out. Could something be blocking a passageway? I poked around with a long wire and flashlight, but couldn't see a route for the water to go. (Sorry - I know all these parts have better names, but I'm learning!) Thanks for your help, Mary Jane

Water in bilge

Mary Jane, I have a 1978 O'day 23 and after a rain I would have water in the bilge. By using a water hose I found that the water was coming from where the gas line went through the bottom of the gas tank compartment. I plan to seal this hole and drill a new on up on the side of the back of the compartment and run the line to the motor from there. For now I just taped around the line where it goes through the hole and seal the hole. I have not had water in the bilge since. Good luck. George

water in bilge

Mary Jane, I was having a bit of water in the bilge after a heavy rain and found the seal around the starboard large window was leaking. A simple repair is made by removing the interior screws, removing the glass, and re-caulking, took care of the problem. Peter~
