Does anyone know where I can buy a water temperature guage that mounts on the engine block, 2GM20? Thanks.

If you are going to install a water temperature gage (good idea) why wouldn't you want it in the cockpit where you can see it before it is too late? I installed one in my cockpit. I have the instructions in printied form both don't think I have it electroncially. Ray Mosteller gave me all the info needed for a water and oil pressure gage.

Try your local auto parts store. You will need the sensor and gage. Most sensors are 1/4" IPT (iron pipe thread) and will screw into the thermostat housing without mod.
Concure with Sailgunner's comment of putting it in the cockpit in the engine instriments cluster. Here is that chance to refinish it in "all teak"

What engine do you have in your boat,adding a temp gauge in the cockpit is on my list but want it done with out teeing in,my sensor in the engine has two pins with only one being used and wondering if possible to connect a temp gauge to the other pin,may try one of these days.

Many Hunter owners do not want to get rid of their "idiot" over temperature alarm and light for their engine. Some have added a T fitting and used the original alarm sensor and a second sensor to drive a temp gauge. I believe that the original engine sensor is an on/off device and will not drive a gauge. I did not have room on my engine (3GM30F) for a T fitting on the thermostat housing and fear that the T might fracture due to the engine vibration.
I replaced my engine sensor with a Telflex temperature sensor (3/8" NPT) and linked that to a CruzPro digital gauge (http://www.cruzpro.com/t30.html) which has an alarm feature that you can set. I was able to use all of the original wiring from the engine to the engine panel and just moved the wire from the light to the gauge. Now I have both a gauge and an audible alarm. Works great!

I did this on my 30 T with a 2GM20f. I kept the audible alarm. I did this seveal years ago and would have to dig out my paperwork on how I did it. I actually drilled holes in the cockpit for the gages. The 30T has its panel on the side of the cockpit.
Check out WemaUSA or VDO guages (I think Hunter uses VDO). Wema makes several different guages (water, fuel, waste etc).
The idea of teeing off the original sender is a much better idea than replacing it with a guage. There are many things going on when you are motoring/sailing, the audible alarm is your best way to get "advanced" warning.

Bad Idea
A few years back I had added a tee for the temp and oil pressure and the temp was easy just used piping to tee into the outlet hose from the engine and that was OK.
But I had to tee into the engine block for the oil pressure gauge and it did last a year or two until one day motoring out a inlet and all of a sudden the alarm went off and looked down and saw the oil pressure gauge had no reading at all,I shut down the engine and was able to sail out of trouble into calmer waters away from danger,when I looked under the steps covering the engine black oil was all over and searching further found the tee had cracked off and oil spilled out all over.
I went back to the one sending unit and never used the oil pressure gauge again,I would love to add a temp unit some day if I can add one into the block some where but will never add a tee again.

That is interesting that you mentioned this. I had spoken with a Yanmar guy several years ago about doing this exact thing on my 2GM. He indicated that it was okay to do this on the water side, but when doing the oil pressure one should use a flexible hose to tee off because the fitting was so small.
