I would like to install Water Temp and Oil Pressure Gauges for the Yanmar vs the current warning buzzer setup- I was looking at the Teleflex site - and they say: For Water Temperature: Use 240 degree type. The engines come standard with a PT (pipe thread) 3/8-19 threaded hole for a Yanmar® temp sender. Contact your Yanmar® dealer about “re-tapping” this hole using a standard 3/8-18 NPT tap to facilitate the assembly of our temperature sender P/N 52320S009 For Oil Pressure: Use 100 psi type. The engines come standard with an PT 1/8-28 threaded hole for a Yanmar® oil pressure sender. Contact your Yanmar® dealer about “re-tapping” this hole using a standard 1/8-27 NPT tap to facilitate the assembly of our oil pressure sender IA15016 Does anyone know if there are adapters readily available to avoid the 're-tapping' exercise? Or other manufacturer gauges that have senders to fit the factory holes? thanks

The Related Link is one of many VDO marine gauge dealers. Maybe a call is in order. My 1979 H37C has a small VDO panel with tach, oil pressure, engine temp, and ammeter. In six seasons not a single problem. I did not install it so do not know if mods were required.

Not a good idea.
John: This is really not a good idea. Unlike an automobile with the display right in front of your face, you really do NOT want to remove the buzzers from the system. These buzzers are very reliable and are set to give you an audible notice long before everything goes south on you. I would suggest that you tap off of the existing units. Leave the buzzers in place and add the manual gauges too. Remeber that the the fittings in this block are NOT SAE threads but are NPT (not tappered). You may want to contact a Yanmar shop on the best method of adding the gauges to the system.
