The 34 Hunter has two fill connections for the water tanks. One on the port side and one aft. We ran out of water and tried to fill the aft tank except is was somewhat full. The port tank was empty. Is there two pressure pumps on the 34 Hunter ? I would expect both tanks to be piped together. Is there valving some where ? Need advise on how the system is designed and where are the valving and pumps..........

Tank Switch Vavle

My 1983 h34 has a valve that you switch from the rear tank to the "main" tank. It is located in the cabin, under the left setee and is brass. That is also the location of the water pressure pump and the main tank. I always drain the stern tank first, then the main tank, in order to keep weight low and in the center of the boat, rather than high up in the stern, where the second tank is located.

Same in my 85

I have a valve under the port berth for changing from one tank to the other. Only one pump.

Almost the same

Same place, slightly different set-up. I have two valves that feed the pump.turn one valve off and turn the other on ..... other than that, sounds the same as the previous responses

Tank filling

I have an 87 H34 with TWO valves under the port locker. One switches the supply between the rear and port tanks and the other, I recently discovered provides the possibility to directly fill the tanks from the shore water supply inlet in the cockpit. With the pump switched off, and this other valve opened it refills each tank in turn based on the position of the other valve. It fills the tanks through the tank outlet pipe i.e from "the bottom", allowing any sediment to get disturbed and then pass out of the overflow when the tank is full. I leave the water circulating for quite a while to flush out old water and it is also great for flushing out the remaining anti freeze after the winter lay-up. I don't know if this was a standard feature or one added by the last (first) owner.
