How do you clean the water tanks on the Hunter 36?

It looks like it has screws on the top - if I undid all those screws, does the top of the tank lift off? Has anyone ever done this?

Er, How many screws? Around a circular plate? Big black hoses going in or white ones? Smaller black hoses going out or white ones? Pictures would help, as I can't visualize a pressurized potable water tank with an access plate/opening.

Looking at it - I don't think the top is removable, it goes behind some of the wood.

THere is an access port but it only show around 1/6 of the tank.

What's the best way to clean a tank you can't get to? The small bit I CAN see doesn't look very appetising

I'm no expert, but it may be as simple as a "Shock" treatment ala a swimming pool. You haven't described the tank's construction. Is it aluminum or plastic?
This question should be posted on the "Ask All Sailors" forum, as we all have water tanks of some kind.
