Water tank repairs Oday 28

I have a four to six inch long crack in the top of the fresh water tank on my O'day 28. Looks like it's been there for a while, someone in the past tried to seal it by smearing epoxy on the crack. Is there a way to repair this as removal/replacement of the tank looks impossible without cutting up the settee?Bob s/v Simple Dreams

Repair to water tank

I think they install the tanks then install the hull liner so the tanks are in for good. You can't epoxy the tanks. My suggestion is get a piece of solid plastic like a cutting board larger than the crack size. Make a gasket out of rubber to fit the plastic and drill holes for self tapping screws about every 3 inches or so. Then just screw it down to cover the damaged area.Good Luckdave

Thanks for the suggestion, Dave, only...

The crack goes right up to and across the front of the depression that runs down the center of the top of the tank. So it's right on the lip of that depression, almost in two dimensions. I think your solution will work for the flat part, but not sure about the edge crack. I almost think I need to melt something in there?
