We are about to begin the dreaded "Drinking/Freshwater Tank(s) Maintenance" and looking for new ideas. We usually have to run the water until tanks are empty, flush, add treatment, and refill. Does anyone do anything different? Any spiffy ideas or new ideas on h20 tank maint. thanks

If you have aluminum strorage tanks or

an aluminum tank in your water heater, do not use chlorox or any concentrated alkaline cleaner. Hydrogen peroxide would be preferred but I do not have a specific proceedure. There was something posted a few months ago about aircraft tanks but I do not have any reference to it. My guess is that you could use approximately the same concentrations of peroxide as chlorox in the "shock treatment" if not a lot less. 2 - 5 percent should kill the bugs.
