I have a 1980 Oday 22. I have a 3 gallon water tank on the starboard side in the cockpit storage locker, towards the front. I wonder if this is the original location for the water tank on these boats? It seems like this is not the best place for the tank since the hose has to be several feet long before it gets to the faucet. Also this is probably the reason I have to prime the faucet every time I want to use it. The hose crosses from starboard to port under the cockpit. I am curious where other Oday 22 owners might have their water tank stored at and how big it is? I am thinking about relocating mine to the port storage berth if it will fit there, I never took measurements yet. Chances are that area is too small.

One guy had put a bladder and pump under the v-berth, seemed to work well. I am plannling to do that too.
I have seen photos, and mine is plumbed to where the hose goes from the faucet to under the platform the port-a-pottie sits on to that cut out area at the center of the v-berth. it was a 5 gallon blatter type.

My boat is a 1980 model and has the same tank location as yours. I don't have any problems with the faucet working.

If you need to prime the pump every time you use it, you are either going a long time between uses or have an air leak in your pump. Most hand pumps used on boats for the galley or head sink have some form of built-in check valve so they remain primed between uses. You might also have a leak somewhere in the long hose, again....causing the pump to lose it's prime.
