Water tank interior fractures

I have a 1986 Hunter 28.5 the water tank is fiberglass with what appears to be a gelcoat interior surface, the gelcoat is fracturing in the corners and am seeing black mold in those fractures. I'd like to clean, sand, and refinish, but not sure what to refinish with. Any advice or previous experiences, would love to hear from you.

Hopefully an expert will chime in, but is the exterior of the tank at these cracked corners accessible? If so, maybe use something like West System (or brand of your choice) epoxy, perhaps glassing in a layer or two of glass cloth or just the epoxy with filler. It might be worth using the glass cloth if there is stress at these corners. To clean, I'd just use some bleach, then scrub with any good cleaner, then maybe some acetone before you glass. Assuming the outside of the tank is not in plain sight, no need to get into any fancy smoothing or painting or gelcoating.

If I understand your description, it sounds like a gel coat cracking and normally not a structural problem. On a quick blush and without pictures, I would sterilize your water tank and fill system piping and not worry.
Jim...

PS: Toxic black mold cannot survive below water. More than likely black algae.
