Water tank for small boats

The H18.5 has a small galley with a sink that is really only a small plastic bucket. On the forward side of where the bucket sits is what looks like a spot suitable for a pump (manual, e.g., lever action of some sort). Forward of that is an area where a water tank might fit, though it would be a small tank and would be an odd shape. Did Hunter produce such an animal for this boat? Do you know of any sort of water tank that might fit into that spot? What sort of pump would you recommend to allow one to pump water into the bucket that serves as a sink? Any ideas that would allow me to have a small supply of fresh water would be appreciated. Thanks, Peter s/v Katy Kaye

I betcha we can supply a small tank that will fit.

As for the pump, there are a variety of manual water pumps on the market...you should be able to find something in the plumbing section of the WM catalog.

Who do I contact??

Peggie, thanks for your response. Who do I contact to find the tank that you refer to? I'd really like to find something that would fit in the space neatly and without the dangers inherent in having to force it into the space. Is there a Hunter supplier that might have such a tank? Thanks again, Peter s/v Katy Kaye.

Water Tanks on Huner 18.5

Peter: I have a Huneter 18.5 that is equipped with the "Cruise Package." I'm not the first owner of the boat, but when I got the boat about 5 years ago, it had a 1 or 2 gallon plastic water container plumbed via tubing to a small cylindrical hand pump that would pump into the plastic bucket/sink. If I remember correctly the water container was stowed in a small locker on the starboard side behind the ice chest. The tubing ran under the starboard birth and behind the stove/sink area to the pump. The plastic water container and the tubing were full of gross looking science projects when I got the boat, so I had to pitch them. We overnight frequently on the boat and just take a couple gallon water jugs with us as it didn't seem necessary to me to set up the hand pump system. We use the plastic bucket/sink to store utensils and don't use it as a sink. We enjoy "camping" on the water on our boat and sailing when the wind is good. Hope this helps with your question. Let me know if you have any other questions. -- Rich rjkoch@csi.com
