Water always stands in the cockpit of my 70's hunter 25'.I am thinking of puting a water tank under the cockpit to change the balance of the boat so the water runs to the back of the cockpit and out the scuppers but i am afraid of changing my depth, I already drag mud somtimes coming into the harbor.but the boat hold 1/2" of water in the front part of cockpit,And my long shaft outboard tends to run out of water often. any ideas?.

change the weight location

surfer rather than add weight I would look to relocate the weight I have. What do you have sitting in the bow? Look at the boat along the water line does it sit bow down a little? I think that I would move the weight aft rather than taking more on. when you move it aft you will not actually increase your draft. Let us know how it goes

Boat balance

My h25 came with a 14 gal fresh water bladder under the cockpit, which I replaced with a 9 gal hard tank because I wanted a power pump rather than the old in and out type. I think the cockpit drain in the old 25s are not big enough, but it does sound like a weight distribution problem to me. What do you keep in the locker under your v berth? I keep four fenders, and that's it. Everything else is stuffed into the starboard cockpit locker including my dink engine, Regards, Jim
