While washing the interior the bucket of water left a white haze on the wood floors in the galley. Is there a simple remedy to remove this haze? The haze is only in the varinsh finish and looks to be only superficial. I am look for a way to avoid resanding the warnish and trying to match the same shade and color. comments...

It may go away as it dries.

I have left damp cloths and paper towels on varnished or polyurethaned surfaces which left a haze on the finish. After awhile the haze disappears on its own as it dries out. As long as the moisture doesn't get between the finish and the wood, it should disappear. If not, sanding and resealing are the next logical step. Sometimes when an item has a factory-sprayed finish on it, it simply isn't thick enough to seal the grain completely. Sanding lightly and adding a couple of coats of varnish or polyurethane will solve that problem.
