I have a 1985/86 28.5 that has a Fram water separator . It is orange and black but I can not find a model number. I would like to replace the filter. I saw a similar one in the West Marine catalog which indicated it was for gasoline. Was this original equipment and if so, do you have a part number I can use. So far so good the engine runs fine but I need to take some preventive maintenance. Thanks.

Same.....

I have the same setup on my Ericson 30.......the black and orange Fram is between the fuel pump and the screw on fuel filter for the engine. Last spring when replacing filters, the element that fits the Fram was for gasoline engines. It works fine and I've never experienced fuel problems. I'll get the numbers from the boat tonight and post them here tomorrow. Later, Eric on s/v Troon

do yourself a favor . . .

and replace the Fram with a Racor. It has a plastic bowl so you can see if there is water or gunk in there. It also has a drain so you can siphon off the water and/or gunk. The filter elements are available at West, BoatUS, Boaters World, etc. Bottom line is that its designed for marine use, the Frams are for backhoes.
