Beneteau Oceanis 400 Newport Marina/New Jersey
Hi, I just moved on to my Oceanis 400. Tonight is my first night on the boat. I notice the water pump turns on about every 20 mins and stays on for 10 to 15 seconds. Sometimes it will stay off for a while. I am not seeing any leaks or running water. I have also tried running the water to clear air out of my lines. Should I turn the pump off until this I figure this out? The pump is not stuck and it does turn off in about 12 seconds from starting. It is also speratic. It can stay off for about a 1/2 hour and then start of it will go off in couple of mins. Sometimes it will also turn off in about 5 seconds.
not sure if this will burn out the motor?

Accumulator tank

I had a similar problem. There was a very very small crack on the accumulator tank which was really hard to see. After replacing it with a new one the problem was solved.
However check the connections to the tank first. Probably something is loose leeting air in.

Water Heater "pop off" valve

I also had a similar problem last year. It was very vexing. I finally discovered that the pressure relief valve on the hot water heater was leaking ever so slightly. There is a hose from this valve into the bilge sump, so there was no evidence of the leak. It only happened when the water was hot, so that ultimately helped me track it down. Finding a marine "pop off" valve was difficult. Finally got one from Defender.

Good luck finding your leak.
